In order to purchase a Student Select insurance plan from Assurant Health, you must be an eligible college student between the ages of 17 and 29. Eligibility is determined by the number of credit hours being carried. Usually, an undergraduate student must be taking at least nine credit hours and a graduate student must meet the graduate student guidelines of his or her particular college or university for full-time student status. Additionally, Student Select is only available to students attending a state-accredited college or university in the United States.
NOTE: Since some schools operate on a quarterly schedule where full-time undergraduate status is considered to be six to eight credits per term, there is an exception to the nine-credit hour rule. If your school runs on a quarterly schedule, you should attach documentation of this to your completed application and confirm in writing that you are meeting the school’s definition of full-time status.
