Health Insurance that Works

Everyone wants health insurance that works for them, gives them the coverage they need, and offers reasonable premiums. This isn’t something you can just go out shopping for and find within half an hour. You will need to speak to an expert insurance broker. They know all the insider knowledge you won’t find on websites and they can tell you right away the differences between a co-pay plan and a Health Savings Account. There are other options and they have the expertise to help you through all the questions you have and get what you want and need.

Just because something is on a website, don’t assume that what you get is exactly what is written on the site’s description. Why? Because everyone who needs health insurance needs something different and no two people will have the same thing. Every provision or condition may be interpreted differently by different companies. Don’t assume something is the case; ask to be sure.

The Co-Pay Versus a Health Savings Account

If you have a co-pay plan, this is NOT the same thing as a Health Savings Account. We’re not sure why there is this kind of confusion over the two, but a lot of families who tried HSAs found out they don’t care for paying full freight at the doctor’s office. We’ve even heard stories of those who had HSAs wanting to switch back to a co-pay plan. The co-pay is a whole lot more popular because the cost of paying for medical care is lower at the doc’s office.

The likely reason that co-pay plans are preferred is because the benefits are visible right away when you pay that doctor’s bill. With the HSAs you save aside money every month for medical expenses and you have a High Deductible Health Plan. In plain English it means you pay for health benefits up to a certain dollar amount. If the bill is more than what the benefits cover, you pay for them out of your Health Savings Account.

Is a Health Savings Account for You?

There’s always been a debate about Health Savings Accounts and they may not be the right thing for some people. They got a lot of press attention, but still, many people don’t truly understand what they will do for them. Ideally, if you don’t understand what the benefits of an HSA are, call your local health insurance broker for information.

An HSA is a savings account, and if you don’t think you’d be opening one, then this may not be the way to save for your medical expenses. You also have to have the “save money” mindset to make this work. So, if you spend what you get when you get it, a health savings account might not suit your lifestyle. But, it does have some terrific advantages that you could at least check out.

The Real Cost of Health Insurance in the US.

If you’re online searching for health insurance quotes, you’re here for a reason. Do you know what you need in terms of affordable health insurance?

While you might be online surfing the Internet because you are interested in making changes to your health insurance, you may also be online because you want some health insurance quotes that make sense to you. Until now, you may not have had any health insurance plan to fall back on. In fact, you might not have even thought that there is actually such a thing as affordable health insurance. Well, the good news is there is such a thing as affordable health insurance.

Let’s start at the beginning. You want to know what health insurance quotes that you can afford. Start by figuring out how much a month you can pay in premiums. Affordable health insurance is all about health insurance that you can manage monthly; it’s just that simple. While you may be thinking that even if you do get affordable health insurance quotes that you can’t really manage a premium and, what the heck, nothing bad will happen, so you will just take a pass on buying any health insurance plans.

Whammo! Guess what happens? You guessed it. You or someone else in your family got hurt and needed to go to a hospital for treatment. Let’s say you broke your arm after falling down the stairs. The break was so bad that a specialist needed to set it and cast it to make sure it healed properly. At this point you had a talk with the doctor and told them you don’t have any health insurance plans and that you really needed a price break. The doctor agreed he could do that.

The bill arrived about three weeks later and it came to $5,000. On the surface this may have made sense given the fact that the break was pretty severe and a specialist was called in. On second glance at the bill you discover that the cost of two aspirins was $220.00. Two aspirins, something you could have dispensed at home, were chocked up at $110 for each one. Talk about the height of ridiculous. That bill was going to take a long time to pay off.

What’s the lesson to be learned here? The lesson here is that the cost of affordable health insurance may be measured according to how many aspirins it works out to be. That should put the whole thing into perspective. It’s just a fact of life that at some point, you and/or anyone else in your family may need a doctor and medical services. Better to have health insurance plans for all the members of your family than wind up taking who knows how many years to pay off a large hospital bill that could have been paid through health insurance.

Tax-Free Benefits with HSAs.

Imagine that – tax free benefits come with HSAs. Yes, we said tax FREE. Something free these days is rare. Mind you if you aren’t ready or willing to only open an account and make deposits, it won’t work for you. What are the tax free benefits? Well for one thing, the person(s) opening the account can put money in it and they don’t need itemized deductions; an employer can make tax-free contributions to employees; and employers that have cafeteria plans may let workers contribute untaxed salary by paying a lower salary.

However, just because there are some significant tax free benefits with HSAs doesn’t meant you should just rush right out and get one. Take the time to check them out first before you decide if you want one. No sense getting one if it won’t do you any good.

The Advice Is Free

It’s not too often that we get something for free these days, except maybe a lot of bills in the mail. So, when you get the chance to get free advice, then it’s worth its weight in gold. Like for instance, what if you got free advice about what kind of health insurance would work for you and also were told how to do that inexpensively? What if the health insurance broker spent over an hour telling you about various options and then said, it’s totally up to you if you want to buy a policy or not from us? Now that would be well-worth checking out. You can do this and more by calling your local health insurance agent.

Just let the agent know what you need, no holds barred, include all your medical conditions and let them help you. They know what they’re doing and they will unerringly guide you to the right plan for the right price. Even though you read something online about a low, low price, it may not apply to you if you have pre-existing conditions.

Health Savings Accounts and the Over 55 Crowd.

Yes, you can get an HSA if you are over 55. The only thing you will need to know right up front is that if you do choose to go this route, you will need to catch up payments in order to be in a beneficial position. If you’re older, you might be able to swing that, as many older Americans do tend to have assets by that age. Although with the recession, this isn’t as frequent as it used to be.

You don’t have to go with an HSA if you don’t feel it’s the right thing for you. You could go with Major Medical instead or even with a Co-pay plan. Your life is unique and you will want what works the best for you, so make it a point to talk to an expert health insurance broker who can assess which plan(s) will work for you.

Health Insurance Quotes Provider Expands in the Face of Recession

One of the nation’s leading online health insurance quotes providers has significantly expanded over the past few months. In spite of the recession, the company decided to make some key strategic moves to take advantage of what they saw as a great opportunity to grow the business.

Seeing their business growing during the recession Clelland Green, Benepath’s CEO, decided to double their quoting capacity for individual and family health insurance plans and enter into the group health insurance quotes business. “We are already seeing a payoff for these investments as the demand for our service from agents around the country has been steadily climbing,” Clelland noted.

Benepath will be offering their group insurance quotes program to agents over the coming weeks and the company reports that they already have several sales and a sizable number of agents who have requested these health insurance leads over the last year. Sales are expected to ramp up quickly as demand for group insurance leads is very strong.

As with other Benepath innovations, their entry into group insurance is not without a distinguishing benefit to businesses and consumers. We are the only group insurance program on the internet which can easily accept and deliver all the information necessary to provide quotes, especially for large companies. This makes it easy for businesses to get competitive insurance bids and for agents to help new customers.

About Benepath: Benepath gives health insurance quotes to consumers across the country and provides exclusive health insurance leads to high quality, local insurance agents. Benepath uses their proprietary technology platform to provide consumers with real-time health quotes from a local agent’s quoting system; branding the agent and providing the consumer with health insurance quotes from both local and national health insurance companies.

Health Insurance Rates Are More Affordable Than the Cost of Medical Services

The onset of 2009 has seen a tremendous increase in health insurance rates. Small businesses are expecting to pay a 50-60% increase in their plans. To offset this rise in cost and make sure that businesses signed up again, carriers were even encouraging renewals before the end of the policies. This poses a tremendous concern for employees who, at the same time, cannot afford to not have coverage because their employers could not afford to buy the plans.

Companies that no longer offer comprehensive benefits because of the sky rocketing health insurance rates expose their employees, their greatest assets, to unmanageable costs for medical services. Employees with families choose their jobs carefully and plan their careers on being able to provide for their families. They are responsible for the quality of living of their children, and if that means leaving and taking another job that allows them to provide health insurance, rates may become too expensive not to afford.
