What do the changes to Medicare mean?

The new administration plans to push health care reform, and in the process overhaul Medicare, by eventually implementing what they refer to as premium support. What does that mean for Americans? It means that premium support would increase competition among health care providers, thus offering beneficiaries the choice of where to spend their money when choosing providers.

House Speaker Paul Ryan formulated one of the proposed plans that may replace Medicare. Should the Better Way plan come into being, it would move Medicare away from the current single-payer status. Right now the government pays for seniors’ health care into a system that inhibits health care costs by creating more competition from suppliers wanting the business.

Does this mean Medicare stands the chance of being eliminated? That remains to be seen. There are too many factors for any type of a clear answer to surface. The bottom line with Medicare as to whether it is phased out or replaced with a premium support plan rests on budgetary concerns.

Get Affordable Health Insurance Now instead of Being Forced to Get it Later

Act now to get affordable health insurance, before you are mandated to buy it in 2014.

It’s a funny world when the government tells you that you must have health insurance – or else you will be fined. While they appear to mean well and are hoping to have universal access to health insurance for everyone, regardless of their condition(s), people don’t much enjoy being told what to do. They enjoy it even less when being told what to do and what to buy will cost them money they don’t have.
It’s a tough situation for many Americans. Buy health insurance now, or later? Choose to go with the flow, get covered and be safe or pay a yearly fine and save money? That’s a bit of a misleading question, largely because paying a yearly fine for not having health insurance will not mean saving money. On the contrary, not having health insurance will still mean someone will have to pay the doctor’s bills, and that would be you. There is no savings to be had in the scenario.

Come 2014, health care reform says state plans will be in place for everyone and they will be subsidized by the government. One wonders where they will get the money to do that without pillaging the health care system, the military and a variety of other larger programs, but for now, why look a potential gift horse in the mouth? So, based on what the government says, by 2014, absolutely everyone will have a chance to have affordable health insurance.

By hook or by crook, the plan seems to be slowly moving forward. However, as with most legislation, there are scores of people who vehemently oppose it. Many are not insured by choice, and feel it is their right to have health insurance or not, as they see fit. They are adamant that government should not force them into a health insurance plan. There doesn’t appear to be any other option to this conundrum, other than paying a fine every year and if you can pay a fine every year, you have enough money to pay for an affordable health insurance policy.

Despite the fact that the government says the states will have health insurance for everyone, no one really knows if the government health insurance plan will offer sufficient coverage. Then what does someone do? Buy insurance because it is there and they must have it because they don’t want to be fined? This begs the question of why pay for insurance if it does not meet your needs. This is food for thought.
In the final analysis, in order to maintain some control over your own life and health, and not be forced into buying a policy later, start searching for an affordable health insurance plan now. Do your homework. Compare policies. Compare prices. Compare coverage. There are affordable health insurance plans out there, and better you get them now, rather than later.

Health Insurance Now or Later?

Given that health care reform is just around the corner, we would be smart to get our health insurance now, rather than wait until 2014. After all, what’s the rush? Nothing has happened yet. Well, that is not quite true, as there are many elements of health care reform that are actually in play right now. It’s just that the mandated health insurance clause does not kick in until 2014.

Would you rather be caught flat-footed without insurance and be fined? Some people will, of course, do just that, because they feel that is all they can afford. However, if may help you to know that there is a good chance that insurance rates will drop by then, and in fact, they are dropping now, thanks to competition. It’s your call. Buy now or buy later, but buy health insurance, as you can’t afford to be without it.

Health Insurance Pricing Tends To Be Variable, So Do Not Be Surprised

Pricing health insurance may well give you a headache, because it seems like every site you visit is quoting different figures. In fact, you may even find the same health insurance policy on several sites and discover wildly different costs.

The reason for that is health insurance companies set their own rates or, you could look at it another way, and that is that they charge what they think the market will bear. So, shop around and you may be pleased to discover you can so get a good deal on health insurance. Just because one site has a higher price for a policy does not mean that policy is any better than a policy on a site with a lower cost. It only means the first company thinks they can charge more. Evidently, they can too, as people are obviously paying those prices. Be smart and shop around. It could save you bucks.

Health Care Reform is Long Overdue

There is no question that health care reform is long overdue and that the costs of keeping the present system up and running is literally astronomical. However, just what are we really going to do about it? There is the health care reform act, the health insurance exchanges, the mandate that no one can be refused health insurance and if you don’t have health insurance in place by 2014, you get fined. How does this help us? Does it really provide us with cost effective health care when the insurance companies will just turn around and hike their prices to consumers?

Health insurance companies will not go broke over any of the changes about to come into effect. Instead, they will pass along their potential loss of revenue to the customers, and there you go, higher insurance rates. Feels like a merry-go-round doesn’t it; one that you’d like to get off and just get on with life without the high price of health care and health insurance. Can the politicians do it? Have you got any better ideas?

Health Care Reform Will Bring What?

Well, isn’t that the burning question of the day. What will health care reform bring to Joe and Josephine American and their kids and extended family? If anyone has the answer, feel free to let us know, because if you listen to the political gab, you are likely still in the dark. We have a sneaking suspicion that is the case because the politicians don’t have a clue what will happen either.

How do you vote? Good question, particularly if health care is a serious issue for you. No matter what age you are, provided you are voting age, health care affects you directly – now and for the future. What will your future hold with the advent of health insurance exchanges and mandatory health insurance?

What Is Your Take on Health Reform?

Health reform is still a hot issue, and why not? The major thing is that in order for health reform to be successful, the economy needs to be in good shape. It certainly is not right now. Does the government have ideas to shore it up? Yes, but really, they are spending most of their money on deporting illegal aliens and doing more to protect the borders; so much for health care reform.

While it makes for a good campaign headline, the simple truth appears to be that health care reform is no more possible than immigration reform – and we all know how that has not been happening. What is your take on health reform? Think it will work or not? Think it will be a benefit for you? If you do not have health insurance by 2014, are you going to pay the fine? Food for thought.

Compare Health Insurance Rates Now When There is a Chance at a Better Deal

If you want health insurance now, take the time to check the rates in effect and do not wait, because the closer we get to 2014, and the more changes made to the system, the higher the prices are going to be. Why? Because once the various changes have been implemented in the system, insurance companies are in the situation where they have to cover more for less. Guess who they will pass the difference onto? If you said you, you would be right. So expect higher premiums.

Someone will have to pick up the difference in profit loss for insurance companies, because they certainly will not do it. They are in business to make money, not give it away in free coverage and eat the difference. This is the reason why the insurance industry is not so happy with health care reform. Make it a mission to check the prices now and when you find a good one, buy what you need and hang in there.

Still Think Health Care Reform Will Get You Insurance At Work?

In revisiting what Obama said in his campaign trail speeches about health care reform, you may remember he said that all employers should continue to contribute to health care coverage for their workers. Or, they could pay into a public plan. What?

First of all, employers are in the midst of trying to cut their heath care costs for workers out of the equation altogether, or shift more of the cost to the workers. Why? They cannot afford to pay the bills any longer, plus the economy is not helping them either. So it is not too much of a surprise that workers who once had health coverage at work are now either without it or scrambling to find more money to pay a higher rate for it. In reality, how will health care reform deal with those issues?

He also said hospitals needed to be graded on their performance, improve their record keeping, and get more efficient. Nothing is wrong with those ideas, but honestly, doctors need to be stopped from charging such exorbitant rates for medical care and hospitals must stop gouging patients for everything from Kleenex to an extra pillow.
